KUCHING, Aug 11: Starting Oct 1, Facebook users will no longer be able to host any new or scheduled Live Shopping events on the platform.

A blogpost on Meta Business Help Center said the feature to create product playlists or tag products in Facebook Live videos will be removed, but users still can broadcast live events through Facebook Live.

Meta Platforms Inc which operates Facebook and Instagram said it is now shifting its focus to Reels on both platforms, seeing that consumers’ viewing behaviours are veering to short-form video.

“If you want to reach and engage people through video, try experimenting with Reels and Reels ads on Facebook and Instagram.

“You can also tag products in Reels on Instagram to enable deeper discovery and consideration,” it said.

Facebook Live Shopping was first introduced in 2018 as an interactive way for sellers to connect directly with viewers and gain potential customers in real time.
