MEASAT charts Sarawak’s aerospace path

KUCHING, May 22: Sarawak is laying the foundation for its future in the aerospace sector with the support of satellite operator MEASAT Global Bhd, which has helped develop the State’s Aerospace Roadmap.

Appointed as a consultant by the Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA), MEASAT is playing a key role in shaping the strategic direction of Sarawak’s aerospace ambitions. The company had also reaffirmed its continued commitment to improving the State’s communications infrastructure.

According to a news report by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), MEASAT chief operating officer Yau Chyong Lim said the company had helped draft the Sarawak Aerospace Roadmap which had already been presented to the Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

“The details of this plan are not yet suitable to be announced, and we are waiting for an official announcement from the Sarawak Premier,” Yau told the media after paying a courtesy call on the Sarawak Premier at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly, here today.

During the visit, MEASAT also showcased scale models of the Ariane-5 rocket and the MEASAT-3d satellite to the Premier.

Among those present during the courtesy call were Sarawak Minister of Utilities and Telecommunications Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi, MEASAT chief legal advisor Tan Lian Kim, and other senior officials. – DayakDaily
