KUCHING, Jan 25: Essential services operators in Sibu only need to submit one application per company when applying for police permits for their employees’ work-related travels during this Movement Control Order (MCO) starting Jan 27.

In a statement today, Sibu Divisional Disaster Management Committee (Sibu DDMC) said to apply, employers would have to visit any nearest police station and submit a letter addressed to the police officer-in-charge stating the nature of the business and address of workplace along with some documentary evidences.

The necessary documents include the trade licence, list of employees and IC numbers and time of operation of the company.

Today’s statement follows and yesterday’s announcement that the current practice requiring employees going to work to present letters from employers will be discontinued and replaced with police permits.

It added the management of essential services are allowed to operate at 30 per cent capacity the MCO period from Jan 16 to 29.

The objective of this requirement is to ensure strict compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) to assist the police in enforcing MCO. — DayakDaily
