MCO: Food assistance programme underway in Puncak Borneo

KUCHING, April 6: The Covid-19 food assistance programme for Puncak Borneo is ongoing and has distributed supplies to 4,001 applicants so far.

Second Deputy Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities Willie Mongin revealed the distribution will be carried out in phases.

He disclosed a total of 12,267 applications for aid were received from Serembu, Mambong and Tarat state constituencies, which are under the Puncak Borneo parliamentary seat, with lists provided by village heads or representatives.


For Serumbu, 3,784 applications were received, while Mambong and Tarat, 4,703 and 3,780, respectively.

“For the Covid-19 food assistance programme, all applicants provided by the village chiefs or the representatives will have their share.

“And I will like to stress here that we don’t practise favoritism as alleged by some irresponsible individuals,” Willie, who is Puncak Borneo MP, asserted via WhatsApp.

Meanwhile, he urged the residents in the area to comply with the movement control order (MCO) imposed by the both the federal and state governments, to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

“We must work together and comply with the MCO to do our part to prevent the spread of this Covid-19,” he added. — DayakDaily
