MIRI, March 28: Retailers have been reminded to impose the social distancing measure at their business premises to curb the spread of Covid-19.

“They should better improve on the arrangement to ensure customers maintain a minimum one metre at payment counters, as well as while queuing outside the premises,” Miri mayor Adam Yii told reporters after conducting spot checks at several supermarkets here today.

He led a team of enforcement officers to visit Servey Supermarket and Boulevard Coldstorage at Mosjaya, Everwin Supermarket, Servey Supermarket and Boulevard Cold Storage at Taman Tunku.

Some of the supermarkets in Miri has implemented social distancing measures at their premises.

“There were some reports of chaos and non compliance. It is found that both the arrangement and compliance have not been done not efficiently,” Yii opined.

He advised retailers to improve on their social distancing measures, adding that the council’s enforcement will return for another round of inspection on Sunday. — DayakDaily
