KUCHING, Aug 12: Miri City Council (MCC), in collaboration with Masterpiece Cycling Club Miri, will be organising the Kuala Baram Race 2022′ (KBR2022) on Oct 16.
The race will start from Jalan Lutong Kuala Baram, in front of the crocodile farm, towards the Jalan Marigold traffic light before a U-turn back to the same road as the finishing point.
KBR2022 is open to 400 local, national, and international participants, targeting a minimum of 1,000 audiences.
There are in total eight categories, namely Men Elite, Men Master A (30-39 years old), Men Junior (17 years old and below), Men Master B (40-49 years old), Men Veteran (50 years old and above), Women Open, Men Super XL (BMI 35 and above), Folding Bike, and a Top Sprint Special Award.
The race distance for the categories Men Elite and Men Master A is about 100 kilometres, while those for Men Junior, Men Veteran, and Men Master B is about 75 kilometres.
Meanwhile, the distance for Women Open, Men Super XL, and Folding Bike is about 50 kilometres.
“Attractive prizes, including cash and trophies with the total amount of RM22,600, await winners of the KBR2022,” said MCC in a statement today.
The entrance fee is RM100 which is not refundable. Participants are entitled to get a race kit which will be given during registration day.
KBR2022 is a pioneer race by MCC Tourism Development Standing Committee to promote Miri as a new destination for cycling race events in Sarawak and enhance local sports tourism.
The race also emphasises the awareness of a healthy and green lifestyle through cycling. — DayakDaily
