KUCHING, March 28: Miri City Council (MCC) mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang today lauded the Miri district police for the arrest of seven “Geng Dolphin Boy” members to ensure public safety in the city.

Yii in a press statement today said the arrest was made during operation code-name “Op Cantas”, conducted jointly by the police from the Miri district police headquarters (IPK Miri) and its Crimes and Investigation Department (CID) personnel on March 27, 2021.

“It is timely the authority has carried out such an operation against the trouble makers as this will give confidence to the general public in Miri that we are safe in public places.

“It also shows that the police and CID personnel around the city are ever ready to protect and safeguard us from such public disturbance,” he said.

Yii noted many reports have been made on the gang for their involvement in quarrels and disturbances at entertainment outlets in Miri City.

“More often than not, they are alleged to use sharp objects and heavy wooden clubs to attack others,” he added. — DayakDaily
