MCC Mayor Adam Yii, council’s term to end this month

MIRI, March 27: Miri City Council (MCC) Mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang and his council’s term of office will end this month.

Yii said the council has received a letter from the Ministry of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Sarawak (MPHLG) dated March 14, 2023 with regards to the appointment of office bearers for the new term from April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2025.

In this connection, Yii on behalf of the council, extended its gratitude to Premier of Sarawak’s Office and the MPHLG for their appointments and pledged to serve the government and the people and the Miri community in particular to their utmost ability with impartiality, integrity and dedication.

“In light of the new appointments, there will be some adjustments towards the composition of the standing committees. In this respect, it will be announced in due course once it is finalised,” he said in a statement after chairing the MCC Ordinary Meeting here today.

Yii also said MCC has registered seven of its staff for the documentation of MCC research work described as constraints of recovery of outstanding assessment rates.

The certification was issued under Copyright Ac 1987 by the Controller of Copyright Malaysia.

The seven staff are Monica Lenya, George Gumbang, Ranee Mary Richard, Jurailla Jon, Noraida Sani, Kimberly Chidlim and Sheldon Edgar Hilary Tawan.

“The purpose of the registration is to protect the aforesaid work developed by the above-mentioned persons against reproduction, storage in a retrieved system, or transmission in any form or by any means without permission from the copyright holders,” he explained.

During the meeting, MCC has put on record the events organised by the council for March 2023.

Among them were engagement session and familiarisation visit by Iban community leaders from Miri district to MCC on March 15, followed by a working visit from Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU) in the Prime Minister’s Department led by its deputy director-general for ICT, Dr Fazidah Abu Bakar (March 16), Miri Marathon 2023 (March 19), and the Australian War Memorial Exhibition at Bario Branch Library (March 25). — DayakDaily
