KUCHING, Dec 5: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) issues a warning to take legal actions against contractors carrying out utility lines construction works if they fail to do proper repairs after digging and trenching.
Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng who was upset with the issue gave a stern warning that he will not tolerate with any shoddy work done by contractors that caused damages to public roads under its jurisdiction.
“I have enough of all this nonsense. Digging here and there to put lines or cables through drains and roads.
“If you don’t do the resurfacing or repairing works properly, you will get it.
“So to all contractors carrying out utility lines works, if you are not going to put it back properly, I am warning you now that we will take you to court,” he said in responding to an issue raised during a live engagement with the community on his Facebook today.
Wee also revealed that Minister of Local Government and Housing Dato Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian had been informed of the matter who then instructed the Council to initiate legal actions if contractors failed to comply.
“We have also written to all utility companies including Sesco, Water Board and Telekom to raise this issue with their contractors,” he added.
While MBKS has try the best to ensure good and safe roads in the city, he asserted they will not allow unprofessional and irresponsible contractors to spoil the roads.
“So please complete your task properly, otherwise we will have to ban you from carrying out works on these roads. Legal action our last resort,” he warned. — DayakDaily
