KUCHING, Aug 13: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) will soon implement facial recognition technology into their monthly buy back recycling campaign recording system.

MBKS mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng said they are looking at launching this updated system between the end of this year and early next year.

With the new technology, he said, manual recording of recycling information will no longer be needed.

“So, whenever you recycle with us, there will be digital records, including your accumulated points, and so on.

“There will be a facial recognition (feature) installed, a digital way of recycling,” he said during his ShallWeeTalk Facebook live session today.

Wee said further details regarding the new system would be announced next month.

Meanwhile, he reminded the public that next week’s buy back recycling point starting tomorrow (Aug 14) will be at the Tabuan Laru Recycling Buy Back Centre at Country Side Market or YS Jaya Supermarket. — DayakDaily
