KUCHING, Jan 20: More than just about new clothes and eating delicious food, Chinese New Year is also a time to spread and share joy and blessings by giving back to those in need.
Kuching South City Council (MBKs) embraced those values by presenting food aid to residents of KMC Flat during its MBKS Caring Community Programme today.
During his speech, MBKS mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng said Chinese New Year is a time for reflection, compassion, and unity.
“Chinese New Year is a time of renewal, hope, and togetherness—a time when we reflect on our blessings and extend our hands to those who are less fortunate.
“Through MBKS Caring Community Programme, we aim to spread joy and alleviate some of the burdens faced by our community members. Today’s initiative reaffirms our commitment to building a caring and inclusive community here in Kuching South,” he said.
For the residents of KMC Flat, he hoped the contributions brought warmth and happiness to them.
“Let us continue to foster the spirit of togetherness and support one another as we step into the new year with renewed hope and determination.
“Finally, I wish each and every one of you a joyous and prosperous Chinese New Year. May the Year of the Snake bring good health, success, and happiness to you and your loved ones,” he said. — DayakDaily
