KUCHING, Dec 22: Kuching South City Commission (MBKS) will carry out more charity events and activities for residents under its jurisdiction.

“If MBKS wants to do charity, we should start doing from our area,” MBKS mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng said when he visited a family in need at KMC flats here this morning.

“It is a meaningful event and I hope that the current activity will attract more people to join.”

According to Wee, there are many families who need help at KMC flats and he will visit them to see what kind of help they seek.

“We also help them to pay their rent as some of the families are having a hard time,” he added

He emphasised out that he was the first to help this way, and he is happy that others have joined him in helping the families to pay their rent.

“There is a lot of low-income families and disabled staying at KMC flats,” he revealed.

Wee also said that cash would be given instead of presents to enable the families or individuals to buy necessities.

Meanwhile, a total of 31 families were visited and aid ranging from RM50 to RM200 was given to each family.

This event was held as Christmas is coming soon. It will be an annual event from the council. — DayakDaily
