KUCHING, Jan 29: The newly formed Kuching South City Council (MBKS) disaster committee will provide assistance to residents in various zones under the council’s jurisdiction during disaster occurrence.
In disclosing this, MBKS mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng said the purpose of this committee is to reduce or avoid potential losses due to disasters, and gave assurance of prompt and appropriate assistance to disaster-affected victims.
“Councilors for each of the seven zones will be listed out together with their phone number.
“This is to ensure that if there is any occurrence of disaster, the public can easily contact their numbers,” he told a press conference at MBKS headquarters here today.
He added that the MBKS disaster committee will also engage with community leaders in their respective zones to ensure information about the committee is disseminated accurately to the residents.
List of zones and councilors-in-charge:
Zone 1: Seng Goon, Hui Sing, Stampin, Green Heights, Kuching International Airport.
