MBKS receives five-star rating in 2021 National Security Protection Special Award

KUCHING, June 13: The Kuching South City Council (MBKS) has been awarded a five-star rating in the National Security Protection Special Award (APPK) 2021 at a ceremony in Putrajaya recently.

According to a press release issued today, MBKS is one of 11 local authorities in Malaysia and the only Council in Sarawak to receive the award.

MBKS said it is proud and honoured to be recognised for displaying the best governance in security protection.


“This star rating programme is an assessment to ensure that government agencies have carried out effective governance and have incorporated a security protection culture into the organisation.

“MBKS will continue to strengthen and ensure the aspects of security protection are adhered to at all times,” said MBKS.

The award was presented to MBKS acting city secretary Hajah Zainab Marzali by Chief Secretary to the government of Malaysia Tan Sri Dato Seri Mohd Zuki Ali.

MBKS mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng thanked the staff and everyone who worked together and supported the Council in carrying out their duties.

Meanwhile, Sarawak Deputy Premier Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian who was presented with the award by Wee, was proud of MBKS’s performance throughout the years and congratulated MBKS for working hard to manage Kuching South and putting extra effort to raise the Council’s name on a national and international level.

“And, despite the fact that there was so much to do in managing a large city during the pandemic, MBKS has always done their best to serve the people in their capacity as a City Council,” Dr Sim said.

He also expressed gratitude to the mayor, the management, the staff, and the residents of Kuching South for their endless support and contributions. — DayakDaily
