MBKS ready to assist in search for man who fell from Tun Salahuddin Bridge

KUCHING, April 13: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng went to the search and rescue (SAR) operation site at Tun Salahuddin Bridge to show support and appreciation to all personnel involved in the ongoing search for a man who is feared to have drowned after falling from the bridge here on April 11.

According to a press release, Wee was accompanied by Deputy Mayor Dato Zaiedi Suhaili, City Secretary Ita Ling, and MBKS senior officers and councillors, who handed out food and drinks to the search teams as a gesture of gratitude and solidarity.

Wee commended the unwavering commitment and perseverance of all the officers and personnel who have been working tirelessly under challenging conditions.

“We are deeply concerned about the incident and extend our thoughts and prayers to the family of the missing individual.

“At the same time, we are here to support the heroic efforts of the SAR teams who have been on the ground since day one. Their dedication and spirit of service are truly commendable,” he said.

He also added that MBKS will continue to monitor the situation closely and stands ready to assist in any way necessary.

The SAR operation is being carried out by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), Civil Defence Force (APM), and the Sarawak Rivers Board (SRB).

On April 11, police urged the public not to speculate on the incident and that anyone with information on the incident can contact the Bintawa station at 082-335930, the Kuching IPD control centre at 082-24444, or come to the nearest police station. — DayakDaily
