KUCHING, Nov 18: Kuching City South Council (MBKS) mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng has expressed the council’s commitment to prioritising a conducive living environment for children within their jurisdiction.

He emphasised that, in line with the council’s child-friendly city policy, they aim not only to organise children’s activities but also to understand the needs and desires of the city’s children.

Wee highlighted the importance of detailing the child-friendly city policy, asserting that it is the right of these children to live in a supportive environment in the city.

During the ‘Let’s Plant a Tree’ programme held at MBKS Community Library, Jalan Ban Hock, Wee spoke to reporters about the council’s efforts.

“We have to educate these children at a young age to protect the environment, and why you have to plant trees.

“This is to have a continued responsibility for all of us, and that is why we talk about sustainability in the environment,” he said.

He noted that while planting a tree might be easy for adults, it is a new and valuable experience for children. — DayakDaily
