“As we celebrate the Year of the Snake, I extend my warmest wishes to all of you. May this year bring good health, happiness, and success. The snake symbolises strength, wisdom, and courage—qualities that I hope will guide us as we strive for excellence,” he said in his speech text.

Wee stressed that MBKS’ success is built on the dedication and teamwork of its people, highlighting that unity is essential in achieving their shared vision.

“This is not just an aspiration—it is a goal we must work towards with determination and purpose. Every individual in this council plays a vital role in shaping the future of Kuching South,” he said.

He underscored the importance of continuous improvement in service delivery, urban development, and environmental initiatives, calling on the council to proactively identify solutions and adopt innovative approaches.

“Our residents have high expectations, and rightly so. Excellence should not be an option—it must be our standard. Efficiency, responsiveness, and accountability must be at the core of everything we do,” he said.

As MBKS moves forward, Wee called for renewed energy and enthusiasm, urging the council to set a benchmark for other local authorities in Malaysia.

“We have achieved a lot, but there is always more to do. The journey ahead may bring challenges, but with teamwork, innovation, and commitment, we can overcome them and emerge stronger. Let us ensure MBKS continues to thrive as a council that truly serves its people,” he concluded.
