KUCHING, Oct 15: No positive rabies cases have been reported this week, which is a positive development, says Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng.

During the mayor’s 185th ShallWeeTalk, which was streamed live on his official Facebook page yesterday, he said that the Asia for Animals (AfA) Sarawak Conference 2023, which took place from Oct 11 to 14 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here provided a valuable opportunity for citizens to engage and gain a better understanding of animal welfare.

“We will have a lot of awareness campaigns. We will let you know how to treat and care for your pets. But the first thing you need to do is to get your pets vaccinated. This is the most fundamental stage.

“It’s the same for humans and pets. If you love your child, you want them to be healthy, (and if) you want them to be healthy, you have to help them get vaccinated. Make sure there are no other diseases that can harm their body,” he said. — DayakDaily
