KUCHING, April 4: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng today led a group of continuing and new councillors on a walkabout at Petanak Central Market and Kenyalang Park Market.

Together with him was also Cr Mok Chuang Ping, the newly-elected chairman of the MBKS Markets and Petty Traders Standing Committee.

Wee said the walkabout this morning was mainly to introduce MBKS’ new faces to the local hawkers and operators so that they know who to reach out to when in need of help.

“Cr Mok has been serving under MBKS for several years now, so he is rather experienced, I would say.

“He is now leading the Markets and Petty Traders Standing Committee, so if anyone has any issues or questions, please do not hesitate to contact him,” said Wee in a Facebook livestream earlier today.

Meanwhile, Mok revealed that there are several activities being planned to improve the operation of markets and petty traders under MBKS’ jurisdiction.

He also said that the standing committee including himself would regularly go to the ground to solve the issues of the people.

“As for the more challenging problems, we would discuss it with the mayor in our meetings.

“We will find the best solutions for all problems within the shortest time span possible. So, please grant us your patience while we try our best to help,” said Mok. — DayakDaily
