KUCHING, Aug 20: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng reminded dog owners to keep their pets at home and not let them roam around.

While rabies is still present in Sarawak today, he urged all pet owners to get their furry friends vaccinated against rabies.

He also advised those bitten by any dog or cat to get treatment at the nearest clinic or hospital immediately.

“I wish for everyone’s cooperation. Don’t let tragedies happen because every life is innocent.

“If you want to keep pets, love them and take good care of them. Don’t keep them for a while and then abandon them on the streets,” he said during his ShallWeeTalk Facebook live session today.

As of May this year, 72 areas in Sarawak in Kuching, Samarahan, Serian, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Kapit, Mukah, Bintulu, Miri, and Limbang have been declared as rabies-infected areas. — DayakDaily
