KOTA SAMARAHAN, Sept 29: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng has fulfilled his promise to celebrate the Mooncake Festival with children of the Salvation Army in Samarahan recently.

According to a press release, the event was a heart-warming affair that showcased his dedication to ensuring that the festive spirit reaches those who need it the most.

The children at the Salvation Army were treated to a BBQ buffet dinner, followed by a delicious serving of ice cream for dessert.

Wee hoped that his gesture of arranging the feast could create unforgettable and joyful memories for the children there.

During his time with the children, Wee also took the opportunity to share words of wisdom and encouragement as he reminded the youngsters to study hard and be good citizens, emphasising the importance of education and character development.

Special thanks were extended to May Loo Hun Ing from Kuching Love Book Association, 38 Yayasan Amal Cinta, and Big Vegan for their contributions to the Mooncake Festival celebration.

Their support, particularly the generous food and 12-inch mooncake, added a touch of magnificence to the event and enhanced the joy felt by the children at the Salvation Army.

Wee further emphasised that the Mooncake Festival celebration with the children at the Salvation Army in Samarahan underscored a strong commitment to community well-being.

He stressed that this initiative should persist, as it serves as a source of inspiration not only for the children but also for the entire community to unite, provide mutual support, and foster a sense of togetherness. — DayakDaily
