KUCHING, Sept 17: The Kuching South City Council (MBKS) is looking into the people’s concerns regarding a telecommunication tower claimed to be erected near a playground at Stampin Tengah.
MBKS mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng said the council has received complaints regarding the matter and is in the midst of communicating with related parties.
“We are looking into this matter. But, for the time being, we will get them to explain the location (of the telco tower).
“The thing is first they will have to get approval from SMA (Sarawak Multimedia Authority) and then Land and Survey (Department), and so on.
“We need them to present all these documents before we give the green light,” he said during today’s ShallWeeTalk Facebook live session.
Wee said there are certain restrictions for such instalments; for example, a telco tower is prohibited in a park or at a location that could obstruct the view of motorists.
He assured residents that MBKS is following up with the responsible parties, and hopefully, there will be updates soon.
Wee was responding to a netizen claiming to be a resident of Lorong Stampin Tengah, who was concerned about the radiation effects on the children should the telco tower be erected near their neighbourhood playground. — DayakDaily
