KUCHING, Aug 15: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng handed over organic compost from the council to SJK Chung Hua No 3, Jalan Padungan as organic fertiliser for the school’s garden and landscaping.
According to an MBKS press release, the aim of the handover was to educate students about the production of organic fertiliser through composting organic waste and the significance of reducing the amount of food waste sent to landfills.
Wee disclosed that this kind of activity organised by Zone 5, chairman, councillors, and MBKS officers is one way for the council to promote organic waste to schools and the public.
“The council will brief the school teachers on how to ensure the correct amount of organic compost is used for gardening and landscaping.”
The handover of the organic compost was received by SJK Chung Hua No. 3 headmistress Choo Chin Moi. The ceremony was also attended by Zone 5 chairman Cr Bong Siak Peng and MBKS officers. — DayakDaily
