KUCHING, Nov 12: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) is keen to explore strategic partnerships and smart city innovations in Nusantara following a landmark visit to Indonesia’s new capital from Nov 8 to 10.
According to a press release issued today, MBKS mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng and a delegation consisting of his deputy, Dato Zaiedi Suhaili, and senior officers were given an in-depth briefing on Nusantara’s Smart and Sustainable City Model which focuses on state-of-the-art digital infrastructure, including high-speed 5G networks, AI-enabled urban management systems, and environmentally responsible architectural designs.
“The blueprint prioritises sustainable growth through innovations such as smart utilities, real-time environmental monitoring, and autonomous transport solutions, which are designed to enhance urban efficiency and contribute toward the capital’s ambitious goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2045,” said the press release.
The press release also conveyed Wee’s interest in integrating some of these advanced technologies into Kuching South’s ongoing smart city initiatives, recognising the potential for these solutions to support urban management and improve the quality of life for residents.
At the same time, the visit also fostered discussions on establishing a friendship city relationship between Nusantara and Kuching, laying the groundwork for ongoing collaboration and knowledge sharing on smart city development and sustainable practices.
