MBKS councilor to represent Kuching City in Taiwan Ironman 70.3 event on Oct 29

KUCHING, Oct 23: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) councilor Bong Siak Peng will represent Kuching City at the Ironman 70.3 event in Kenting, Taiwan on Oct 29.

In announcing this, MBKS mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng expressed his enthusiasm for the occasion, saying that MBKS is filled with immense pride and joy to watch Bong represent Kuching City in the event.

He pointed out the Ironman 70.3 competition is a renowned test of physical endurance and mental fortitude, comprising a 1.9km swim, 90km bike ride, and 21.1km run.


“Bong’s participation in this demanding event not only showcases his unwavering dedication and commitment but also stands as a beacon of inspiration to the local community.

“His dedication to physical fitness, coupled with the values of perseverance and determination, resonates deeply with the spirit of MBKS. This is a moment of unity and strength for us all,” he said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, Bong, who is actively involved in numerous community initiatives, including the promotion of a healthy and active lifestyle, expressed his gratitude for the city’s support and trust.

He said it is a profound honour to carry the Sarawak flag to Kenting, Taiwan.
