KUCHING, Sept 3: Saratek Sdn Bhd has presented Masjid Darus Sakinah at Batu Kawa with a new bookshelf for its Islamic holy books, as the previous one was damaged by a massive flood earlier this year.

According to a statement, the flood, which reached almost to the waist level, damaged the wooden rack for the Holy Quran.

“Upon meeting with the representative, Mohammad Iskandar, who is the secretary and Youth chief of N14 Batu Kawa Sinar Budi Baru, Saratek Sdn Bhd decided to undertake this task on the need to replace the damaged Holy Al Quran rack as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR).

“Saratek Sdn Bhd focuses on houses of worship and some heritage areas for their CSR. For Masjid Darus Sakinah, the company custom-made an aluminium cabinet with doors that can protect the holy book should there be any reoccurrence of such major floods.

“The material chosen also will not degrade if exposed to water. We thank the mosque’s chairman, Syarum Putit, for giving us the honour and opportunity to do this good deed and accomplish our CSR for the year.”

Among those present for the handover ceremony were the political secretary to the Premier, Kho Teck Wan, Mohammad Iskandar, Masjid Darus Sakinah committee member Yacub Melan, and Saratek director and founder, Kamlesh Naraindas Asnani. — DayakDaily
