KUCHING, Dec 18:  Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas will extend his medical leave until the end of this year and to report to work beginning next year.

According to Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing, Uggah was not suffering another heart attack as rumoured.

“His previous surgery has gone well and he has recovered well.  Because of that, he went through another angioplastic procedure.  It is a continuation of his treatment.

“No, it is not true that he suffered another heart attack,” Masing told DayakDaily.

Masing who is taking over Uggah’s duty as Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) acting chairman said the latter will extend his medical leave for another two weeks.

“So I will continue to head SDMC until my colleague comes back to work next year,” said Masing.

Uggah went through a heart surgery on Nov 17.  He was supposed to take a month’s leave following the medical procedure and would have reported back to work yesterday.

However, he was advised by his doctor to take leave for another two weeks to recuperate and recover from the most recent angioplasty surgery. — DayakDaily
