KUCHING, May 23: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) president Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing said today that the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is not answerable to former State PKR chief Baru Bian and assured people that the ruling coalition is solid.
“GPS is solid and we are not answerable to Baru Bian,” Masing told DayakDaily when contacted today.
Baru was quoted to have urged the weaker component parties in GPS to reconsider their alliance with Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) and claimed that there was imbalance in the distribution of power in the coalition.
On border security, Masing who is also Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development and chairman of the Border Security Committee, assured the people the security along the border is under control.
“As far as the border is concerned I can assured that it is under control with the increasing presence of security forces manning our border with Kalimantan,” he said.
The Deputy Chief Minister also advised the people to continue observing the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) during the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) so as to stay safe from the Covid-19 pandemic during the coming Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Gawai Dayak celebrations.
“I wish all those of Muslim faith a blessed Hari Raya Adilfitri for 2020. We must use this Hari Raya as the tie which binds the family connection stronger, since visitors are prohibited from visiting us on this special Day due to health pandemic.
“Covid19 may endanger our lives, but it certainly brings our families ever closer together as we fight coronavirus menace within the confine of our houses and homes,” added Masing.-DayakDaily
