Tan Sri James Masing

KUCHING, March 12: PRS president Tan Sri Datuk Amar James Masing opines Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s recent statements should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Masing in a statement today declared that nowadays, he found it difficult to believe any words uttered by the former prime minister, because he frequently changed his positions on certain matters.

“If you accept his words as the gospel truth, you will get trapped. The best is just listen to his ramblings, keep cool and if you are a politicians, stay put.

“Don’t get influenced by all his talk, because (sic) at the end of the day, you should be alright,” he added.

Masing was responding to reported remarks throwing some light on the relationship between Dr Mahathir and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as well as between Dr Mahathir and the Pakatan Harapan coalition.

In a recent Sinar Harian interview with Dr Mahathir, the statesman disclosed his personal views on Anwar and asserted that the latter did not have the support of the Malay community for being liberal.

The former premier acknowledged issues he had with Anwar during his time as United Malays National Organisation (Umno) president. He also disclosed he worked with Anwar and the Democratic Action Party (DAP) in order to bring down former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak during the previous election and ensure the defeat of Barisan Nasional (BN) government. — DayakDaily
