KUCHING, Aug 7: Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing has commended the frontliners in the State for their efforts to ensure Sarawak achieved its targeted vaccination rate of 80 per cent.

According to Masing, he was in Kapit recently with the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) to hand out food packages as a small token of appreciation to the frontliners from the Sarawak government.

“Without their dedication, hard work and selfless sacrifice to the breadth and length of this country, the Sarawak government will not reach the vaccination rate of 80 per cent by August 2021,” he said in a statement today.

Masing said the frontliners in the State are like Florence Nightingale, who is known as the “Lady with the Lamp” through her dedication and countless acts of mercy to heal hundreds of war victims during the Crimean war.

“To me, our frontliners are the ‘Florence Nightingale’ of our battle against Covid-19,” he added. — DayakDaily
