MIRI, Feb 11: A Malaysia Airlines (MAS) plane carrying 101 passengers, including an infant, made an emergency landing at Miri Airport this morning due to mechanical issues.

Sarawak Transport Minister Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, when contacted, has confirmed receiving a report on the incident.

He said that flight MH2574 from Kuala Lumpur to Miri landed safely at Miri Airport around 11am following an issue with one of the plane’s flaps.

It was understood that a team from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), including an ambulance, were placed on full alert upon the plane’s arrival.

“All related agencies were alerted and on standby positions,” Lee said.

According to the flight’s original schedule, the plane was estimated to land at 11.10am but landed at 11.44am.

“The aircraft landed safely. The incident did not affect airport operations,” said the Senadin assemblyman. — DayakDaily
