SIBU, May 11: A 31-year old man was detained on suspicion of being in possession of illegal diesel at Jalan Bintulu-Bakun yesterday.
Region 5 Marine Police Bintulu commander, ACP Zulfikar Mohd Ghazali in a statement said the arrest was made during an operation code name Ops Kontraban at about 8.20am.
The operation was led by officials and four personnel.
“During an inspection of a lorry, it was found that the driver was carrying 2,000 litres of diesel. The man failed to provide documentary proof from the relevant authority,” he said.
As a result, the team arrested the man and seized the diesel and 3-ton lorry worth a total of RM54,300.
“The case has been referred to the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) Bintulu for further action,” he added. — DayakDaily
