Marine enforcers seize 800 litres in illegal diesel, arrest transporter

SIBU, March 3: A random check by Region 5 Marine Police (PPM) led to the seizure of 800 litres of illegal diesel worth RM81,104 this morning.

PPM Region 5 commander, Assistant Commissioner Shamsol Kassim revealed that the operations team came across the four-wheel drive vehicle carrying the diesel in four blue plastic barrels at 7.15am at Jalan Salim.

“The driver failed to produce any oil-related authorisation documents from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) which is an offence under the Supply Control Act 1961,” he disclosed in a statement.

The enforcers arrested the driver who is in his 50s, and also seized the vehicle. Both the suspect and the vehicle were later handed over to KPDNHEP Sibu. — DayakDaily
