KUCHING, Oct 10: Minister of Education, Science and Technological Research Datuk Seri Michael Manyin Jawong heads the list of 1,194 recipients of awards and medals in conjunction with the Head of State Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud’s 84th birthday in an investiture ceremony at Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Complex today.
Manyin, who is also Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) senior vice president and Tebedu assemblyman, is conferred the Datuk Amar Bintang Kenyalang (DA) which carries the title Datuk Amar.
Two other individuals are also awarded similar awards. They are Chief Secretary to the federal government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali and Taib’s younger brother and Stakan assemblyman Datuk Seri Mohammad Ali Mahmud.
Three individuals received the Panglima Negara Bintang Sarawak (PNBS), which carries the title Dato Sri, are Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi, Katibas assemblyman Datuk Ambrose Blikau Enturan and Chief of the Malaysian Armed Forces General Tan Sri Affendi Buang.
Two individuals are conferred the Panglima Gemilang Bintang Kenyalang (PGBK), which carries the title Datuk, are Assistant Minister of Women, Family and Childhood Development Rosey Yunus and State Federal Secretary Mohd Shahabuddin Omar. His Excellency OKNHA Datuk Dr Othsman Hassan is conferred the (honourary) PGBK.
Six civil servants awarded the Darjah Jasa Bakti Sarawak (DJBS), which carries the title Datu, are State Security and Enforcement Unit director Dato’ Dr Chai Kin Chung, director of the State Human Resource Unit in the Chief Minister’s Department Ismail Mohamad Hanis, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport Sarawak Buckland Bangik, Council for Native Customs and Traditions head Ronnie Edward, Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) general manager Rodziah Morshidi and Sarawak Syariah Court Chief Judge Awang Suhaili @ Suhaidi Ledi.
Nineteen individuals conferred the Panglima Setia Bintang Sarawak (PSBS), which carries the title Dato, are Malaysian Ambassador to the Holy See His Excellency Westmoreland Edward Palon, Chai Moi fong, former State Health director Dr Jamilah Hashim, Ahmadi Yusoff, SHEDA Kuching branch chairman Sim Kiang Chiok, Azizi Morni, State Suhakam Commissioner Dr Madeline Berma, Ahmad Shafiee Yaman, Tan Guek Kee, former Batu Kawa assemblyman and assistant minister Temenggong Tan Joo Phoi, Wife of Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas Datin Amar Doreen Mayang @ Doreen Lee Mei Hua, Wife of Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing Puan Sri Corinne Bua Nyipa, Dr Philip Raja, Michael Sim Kiam Hui, Keripin Nangkai, Temenggong Ang Keng Su, Bobby Ting Sie Ching, Awangku Jawa @Pengiran Jawa Pengiran Amzah, and Ting Choon Hua while Professor Linda Kristjanson of Australia received the same award.
Five individuals awarded the Johan Bintang Sarawak (JBS) are Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat, Saribas assemblyman Ricky @Mohammad Razi Sitam, Elizabeth Deng of Orang Ulu National Association, Deputy Commissioner of Police Datuk Dev Kumar and prominent lawyer Shankar Ram Pohumall.
Fifteen other individuals received the Johan Bintang Kenyalang (JBK). Among them are Daro assemblyman Shafiee Ahmad, Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang, Ngemah assemblyman Alexander Vincent, political secretary to the Chief Minister Edwin Banta, CUEPECS Sarawak chairman Ahmad Malie, State CID chief SAC Dennis Leong Soon Kuai, and Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Talib Zulpilip’s wife Datin Dr Zaliha Christine Abdullah.
Five civil servants are awarded the prestigious Johan Perkhidmatan Cermerlang (JPC). They include the director of State Education Abang Mat Ali Abang Masagus and State Health director Dr Chin Zin Hing.
Meanwhile, 18 civil servants are awarded Pingat Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (Gold) (PPC) including a posthumous award to former Kuching Water Board general manager the late Mohamad Sabari Shakeran.
Seventeen civil servants are awarded the Pingat Pewira Negeri (Bronze) (PPN) while 41 others receive the Pegawai Bintang Sarawak (PBS), 113 individuals – Pingat Bintang Kenyalang (PBK), 148 individuals – Pingat Perkhidmatan Bakti (Silver) (PPB), 168 individuals – Ahli Bintang Sarawak (ABS), 165 – Ahli Bintang Kenyalang (ABK), 229 – Pingat Perkhidmatan Terpuji (Bronze) (PPT), and 235 – Bentara Bintang Sarawak (BBS). —DayakDaily
