KUCHING, Aug 17: Many constituents in Batu Lintang say they voted for Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) not See Chee How as an individual, claims Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) president Voon Lee Shan.

In a press release, Voon who is a former assemblyman for Batu Lintang said he had gone to the ground to find out the reaction of voters in Batu Lintang concerning See’s recent resignation from PSB.

Voon said the constituents whom he met viewed See’s reasoning of “staying away from politics” for leaving PSB as a “flimsy excuse and unacceptable.”

“By being an independent, how would he (See) be able to serve the constituency well?” Voon questioned.

He also said that the public is fed up with politicians leaving the parties they represented during elections after being elected.

He thus urged See to also resign as the Batu Lintang assemblyman to honour the commitments the latter has made to PSB.

“YB See Chee How should display leadership by honouring what he had promised to PSB.

“By resigning, See Chee How should compensate PSB for having won (Batu Lintang seat) on a PSB ticket,” Voon added.

On Aug 14, State Legislative Assembly (DUN) speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohammad Asfia Awang Nassar announced that See had resigned from PSB to become an independent.

Two days later on Aug 16, See held a press conference and said he would stay away from politics to focus on working with any interested parties to serve his constituents and Sarawak better. — DayakDaily
