Manhunt underway in Miri for snatch theft suspect

MIRI, July 6: The police are currently on a manhunt for a suspect involved in a snatch theft incident that occurred today.

The incident took place in front of the entrance to Servay Hypermarket Pelita around 4pm.

Miri District Police Chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu confirmed that the police had received one report on the incident from the victim, who is a local woman.

According to initial investigations, a man on a white or silver motorcycle snatched the victim’s handbag, which contained her personal belongings.

“The police are diligently searching for witnesses and gathering evidence to assist in the investigation,” said ACP Alexson today in a statement.

The case is being investigated under Section 392 of the Penal Code.

Authorities have urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information on social media, as it can cause unnecessary anxiety and annoyance within the community.
