Manhunt underway for Kota Samarahan murder suspect

KUCHING, Dec 31: Police are hunting for a suspect believed to be involved in a murder at Kota Samarahan last week.

The suspect is believed to be in his 30s and was identified as Ato, an Indonesian citizen from Singkawang, Kalimantan Barat.


According to the police, the murder was reported on the Dec 21, when a dead body with wounds was found lying in a pool of blood in a rented room on the second floor of a building at Bandar Royal, Kota Samarahan.

The report was made by the deceased’s roommate, who was later arrested. It is thought that the murder happened on Dec 20.

The reason behind why the roommate reported the case on Dec 21 instead of Dec 20 is still unknown and he is currently under police remand for further investigation.
