KUCHING, June 13: The ‘Tiger Platoon’ from the Sarawak General Operation Force (GOF) Brigade is also assisting in ‘Op Kesan’ to hunt down two Indonesian detainees who escaped from the Tapah Police Station lock-up.
Sarawak Police Commissioner Dato’ Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri said 110 police personnel are involved in the second day of the operation today (June 13), with the radius of the search area expanded.
Also joining the operation was the K9 unit (police dog) of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak and the Drone Unit of the Air Force.
“In addition, roadblocks were also conducted by Beratok Police Station, Tapah Police Station, Siburan Police Station, Mile 10 Police Station, and Batu Kawa Police Station.
“The roadblocks are also conducted at the bordering districts, namely in Kuching, Kota Samarahan, Bau, Lundu, Lubok Antu and Sri Aman,” he said in a press conference here today.
The suspects, who are Indonesian citizens, identified as Kelvin, 21, and Bony, 31, reportedly escaped from the lock-up at around 1pm yesterday (June 12).
