Man, woman feared drowned after car plunges off Tanjung Kunyit ferry point in Sibu

SIBU, Jan 7: Two persons are feared to have drowned while another managed to escape in the nick of time after their car accidentally went down the Tanjung Kunyit ferry ramp into Sg Maaw here today.

Those missing include Philip Yiin Chung Leong, 61, and an unidentified female. Brayant Magnus Ting Shang, 38, survived.


Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) in its daily update today said they received a distress call from the police at about 7.10am concerning a Toyota Camry that went down into the river at Tanjung Kunyit ferry ramp.

“Three firefighters were immediately despatched to the scene to conduct a search and rescue operation with the help of four marine policemen,” it added. — DayakDaily
