KUCHING, Dec 17: A man with a prior criminal record for cheating claimed trial to three charges at the Magistrate’s Court here today.

Ram Kipriwi, 49, was charged with three charges under Section 420 of the Penal Code, which carries an imprisonment term of between one and ten years, and whipping, and liable to a fine, upon conviction.

He pleaded not guilty to all three charges.

Magistrate Zaiton Annuar fixed December 22 for further mention and allowed the accused to be released on bail of RM2,000 with one local surety.

He was charged with dishonestly inducing Hasanah Abu Bakar to deliver RM600 to him at Kampung Pasir Pandak Block 9 Salak Land District, at about 1.30pm on September 2, 2019. He was also charged with dishonestly inducing Mujaahidin Kalek to deliver RM452 to him at Kampung Pasir Pandak, at about 3.40pm on October 5, 2019 and dishonestly inducing Rohaidawati Sabri to deliver RM1,512 to him at Restaurant Nasi Kandar Line Q, Branch Mydin Mall, at about 7.59pm on October 7, 2019.

The accused had allegedly offered to the three victims separately the opportunity to obtain a piece of land in Santubong.

The money that the victims paid to the accused is meant as the deposit to purchase the said piece of land but in actual fact, the piece of land that the accused offered does not exist. — DayakDaily
