KUCHING, May 8: A man suffered burns after trying to enter a burning house in Kampung Kuala Lama in Mukah.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation centre in a statement today said the victim, 37, was injured on his legs and hands after he attempted to enter the house belonging to his parents immediately after he saw smoke coming out of the house.
“However, he was informed that both his parents were not at home when the incident occurred.
“The victim was later given initial medical treatment before being sent to the hospital by a medical team,” it said.
According to a Bomba report, they received the call regarding the incident at 9.53pm yesterday (May 7), and firefighters from Bomba Mukah were deployed to the location.
It said two houses were partly destroyed in the incident where the first house was 90 per cent burned, while the second adjacent house belonging to the victim was 10 per cent affected.
It also said firefighters then put out the fire by utilising a nearby fire hydrant and a water pump from a fire engine, followed by an overhaul procedure to ensure the situation was under control and safe.
The cause of the fire and total loss are still under investigation. — DayakDaily
