KUCHING, May 8: An e-commerce platform called ‘Sarawak Heritage’ (saratage.my) to promote Sarawak’s heritage products such as songket, keringkam and other crafts was launched at a Malaysia crafts exhibition held in conjunction with the annual London Craft Week at the Malaysian High Commission in London yesterday (May 7).

The website, developed and designed by Centre for Technology Excellence Sarawak (Centexs) Commercial, was launched by Malaysia’s Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah.

Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said his government would continue its efforts to promote Sarawak’s heritage products to the global market especially through Centexs Commercial.

“We have set up a special vehicle for Centexs and Centexs is working together with our indigenous artisans who preserve our heritage in terms of craftsmanship. That will be done systematically.

“What’s important is that we want to reach out to the market and that is why we have this special Centexs Commercial as a commercial hub that will promote our products overseas,” he told the press after the event via a video uploaded by Centexs Commercial today.

The event was also graced by the wife of Sarawak’s Head of State, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib.

Other dignitaries present included the Premier’s wife Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang; Sarawak Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and his wife Datin Sri Zuraini Abdul Jabbar; Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Syed Aman Ghazali; and Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki and his wife Datin Amar Baduyah Bujang.
