MIRI, September 1: A 44 year-old man believed to be mentally unstable has been arrested for stabbing his grandfather at a house at Kpg Jengalas, Bekenu, on Thursday (Aug 30).
The victim sustained injuries on his left arm and to his head in the 7.45pm incident, where he was allegedly stabbed with a pair of scissors.
Prior to the incident, the victim was in the house with the suspect when the latter suddenly turned violent and began attacking the victim.
Fortunately the suspect’s brother-in-law, who was in the living room, heard the commotion and immediately rushed to check on both of them.
Terrified and surprised upon seeing blood stained on the victim’s body, the brother-in-law immediately held the suspect and disarmed him. The suspect was later handed over to the Bekenu police station.
According to sources, the suspect has experienced mental issues over the past few years and has been taking medication.
The victim is currently being warded at the Miri hospital. — DayakDaily
