Man shot dead by friend during hunting trip

KUCHING, Aug 27: A 35-year-old self employed man from Kampung Sadir, Jalan Puncak Borneo was allegedly shot by his friend during a hunting trip yesterday.

Padawan District police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan who confirmed the incident said based on the initial investigation, the victim Wilco William died from a gunshot to the abdomen.

“Police received a call from Kampung Sadir village head Tom Sagu at about 6.50pm, informing them of the shooting incident. Tom also informed the police that he will bring the suspect, a 63-year-old man also from the same village, to the police station,” Aidil said in a statement.


Police arrested the suspect at 1.38pm, outside Tapah police station when he arrived together with Tom.

They also confiscated the alleged shotgun that killed Wilco, a firearm licence book belonging to the suspect’s wife, seven live bullets, a shotgun case and a pouch belt.

Aidil also said the suspect confessed to the shooting and that he has no past criminal records.

The case is being investigated under Section 304A of the Penal Code, Section 8(a) and 39 of the Firearms Act 1960. — DayakDaily
