KUCHING, Aug 26: A 36-year-old man pleaded guilty to cheating eight people in Sibu last August.
Wallace Putang Nyalau was convicted of 13 charges under Section 420 of the Penal Code at the Sibu Magistrates Court today after being accused of cheating eight victims, purportedly offering house renovation works worth RM38,040 in total.
He was paid the money by all the victims last August but the renovation works were never done.
Insp Awang Iswandi and Insp Badrul Iskandar Selamat represented the prosecution before Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali.
Wallace who was unrepresented was sentenced to three years’ jail and 13 strokes of the rotan. — DayakDaily
