Man sentenced to 14 months’ jail for hurting, threatening to kill mother

KUCHING, Nov 23: The Magistrate’s Court here sentenced a sales assistant to 14 months in jail on for domestic violence and threatening to kill his mother because his mother did not prepare food for him to eat.

Muhammad Ismuie Yusup, 29, pleaded guilty to two charges framed before Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali.


He was charged with causing hurt to his 50-year-old mother on her face at their house in Kampung Sinjan Jaya, at about 1.45pm on April 25, 2021.

For this, he was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code read together with Section 326A of the same Code and was sentenced to eight months in jail.

He was also charged with criminally threatening to kill his mother at their house in Kampung Sinjan Jaya, at about 1.45pm on April 25, 2021.

For this, he was charged under Section 505 of the Penal Code. He was sentenced to six months in jail.

The magistrate ordered imprisonment terms for both charges to run concurrently.

Therefore the accused will only be jailed for eight months.

According to the brief facts of the case, the accused got angry when he discovered that his mother did not prepare food for him and he hurt his mother with both his hands and threatened to kill his mother.

The accused then fled from the house with a parang.
