SIBU, Dec 27: A 62-year-old man was killed after the excavator he was operating fell into a ravine at Jalan Assan, Bintangor, today.
A State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) spokesperson said the Bintangor station received a distress call at 3.38pm from a member of the public concerning an excavator that fell into the ravine with one person trapped inside.
“The distance between the machine and the road shoulder was 400 metres. Firefighters had to walk down the ravine,” he said.
The spokesperson said the deceased, John Singke, was brought up using an air-lifting bag.
The body has been referred to the Bintangor police for further action. — DayakDaily
