SIBU, April 26: A 49-year-old man has been released on a bail of RM5,000 in one surety by the Sessions Court today for attempted murder.
According to the brief facts of the case which was read before Judge Marutin Pagan, the accused Tie Teck Ka had between 5.04pm and 5.06pm with another person who is still at large, shot a 38-year-old man at a carpark near a cafe in Paradom with a shotgun, with the knowledge that such an act may cause the death of the victim.
Tie was charged under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder.
The offence provides for an imprisonment term of up to 20 years.
Judge Marutin fixed June 14 for case management.
In another case at the same court, a 70-year-old man was fined RM7,000 in default four months jail for having in his possession a shotgun and six live bullets without any valid license from the relevant authority.
The accused, Janda Nyaru, had committed the offence at about 10.45pm on May 25, 2021 at the roadside at Mile 24 Jalan Oya.
Nyaru who was charged under Section 8 (a) of the Arms Act 1960, paid the fine. — DayakDaily
