MIRI, Feb 21: Personnel from the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) here arrested a 40-year-old local man on suspicion of drug abuse this morning.
The suspect was busted while in a car parked near a budget hotel at Jalan Dato Permaisuri MCLD by a team led by Insp Mohamed Basher at about 11.30am.
During an inspection, the suspect voluntarily handed over a plastic bag containing seven small packets of drugs believed to be methamphetamine weighing 5.65g and with a street value of RM904.
Miri deputy police chief Supt Sabri Zainol said the suspect tested positive for drugs and also had criminal records related to drug offences.
The case is being investigated under Section 39A(1) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. — DayakDaily
