KUCHING, Nov 24: A man jumped from the third floor of a building in Metrocity, Matang, to escape a fire that had engulfed a rental room on the floor below. He survived the jump, uninjured.
According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department, it received the emergency call at 8.54pm earlier today regarding the blaze at a building in Metrocity area, Jalan Matang.
A team from the Petra Jaya Fire and Rescue Station arrived at 9.11pm, assisted by crews from the Batu Lintang and Padungan stations.

The operations commander, PPgB Mohd Adib Ibrahim, reported that a male victim had jumped from the third floor before firefighters arrived. He was found safe and uninjured. No other occupants were reported to be in the burning unit at the time.
The fire involved a 60-by-20-square-foot rental room on the second floor, which was already engulfed upon arrival. Firefighters brought the situation under control by 9.25pm and fully extinguished the blaze by 9.54pm using two 300-foot hose lines, two pump nozzles, and water from a nearby fire hydrant.
Firefighters conducted checks to ensure the area was safe before leaving the scene. – DayakDaily
